With the release of the week six 2022 Iowa High School Volleyball Rankings, just two teams represent the Union area. Four five weeks now, Mid-Prairie and New London have been inside the top 15 volleyball ranking for their perspective classes.
Mid-Prairie, who was previously No. 13, moved up two spot to No. 11 in this weeks Class 3A rankings. As for New London, previously No. 11 in Class 1A, they slide down to No. 15 this week.
The Golden Hawks have been red-hot as of late.
Out of their last 10 games, the Golden Hawks have won eight. Mid-Prairie has gotten big wins over Wilton (No. 12 Class 2A) and Tipton.
Back on Sept. 8, the Golden Hawks did battle with No. 6 (Class 3A) West Liberty. Mid-Prairie put quite a fight in a battle of ranked teams, but the Golden Hawks fell in the contest 3-1.
This past weekend, Mid-Prairie celebrated their No. 11 ranking with a tournament win at New London. The Golden Hawks did battle with the likes of New London and No. 11 (Class 2A) West Burlington.
Mid-Prairie took the tournament title with a win over West Burlington, after previously losing in the opening match to the Falcons.
New London has had a dominant season as well.
Out of their last 10 games, the Tigers have won just five though. There has been some tough competition along the way.
Out of the five losses, all have come to top 15 opponents. The Tigers fell to No. 3 (Class 1A) Burlington Notre Dame, No. 10 (Class 1A) Holy Trinity, West Burlington twice and Mid-Prairie.
