Mid-Prairie volleyball ends regular season

WILTON — Class 3A No. 7 West Liberty dealt Mid-Prairie a loss Thursday in the River Valley Conference tournament 21-16, 21-6.
Ella Groenewold and Maddie Nonnenmann had three kills apiece. Mid-Prairie teammate Landry Pacha had seven assists. Dakota Mitchell had eight digs. Alyssa McDowell had three digs, a block, and a kill.
The Golden Hawks have not won a set against the Comets since 2009.
Tuesday at Monticello, also in the RVC tourney, Mid-Prairie went 1-1, notching 21-19, 21-18 win over Regina but a 21-15, 21-10 loss to Monticello. Groenewold hit 13 kills combined in the two matches. Behla Schmidt had six kills, Maddie and Maya Nonnenmann combined for 15 kills while Alyssa McDowell had three kills and three digs. Dakota Mitchell saved 19 digs one match, 13 in the other. Cana Rediger had 12 digs total and Lanee Duwa 11.
Mid-Prairie is 15-13 and hosts Tipton Monday to open the postseason. West Liberty is 34-3 and hosts Washington Monday for the postseason.
