Mid-Prairie volleyball one win away from state
Golden Hawks set to face Center Point-Urbana with state tournament trip on the line

CENTER POINT — It all comes down to this for Mid-Prairie volleyball.
One more win and the No. 12 Golden Hawks (31-10) will be heading back to the state tournament, their first trip since 2004.
The team standing in the way of the Mid-Prairie, is none other than the No. 7 ranked Center Point-Urbana Stormin Pointers (26-9).
Mid-Prairie enters the Class 3A Region 6 championship off a 3-0 victory over PCM, 25-12, 25-15 and 25-16.
Meanwhile, Center Point-Urbana comes in off a sweep as well. The Stormin Pointers defeated Albia 3-0, 25-9, 25-8 and 25-8.
Center Point-Urbana currently holds a 5-1 record over Mid-Prairie in all-time matchups. The last time the two met was in 2022, in which the Stormin Pointers won 2-1.
Leading the Golden Hawks is sophomore Jovi Evans with team-highs in kills and assists. Evan has 356 kills and 649 assists. Evans also has a team-best 63 aces.
Fellow sophomore Harper Pacha followed with 323 kills and junior Callie Huber comes in with 243. The next highest is senior Paige Safly with 166.
Sophomore Avery Helmuth has the next highest assists with 450.
Defensively, junior Dakota Mitchell holds it down with 608 digs. Evans follows with 456 and junior Lanee Duwa has 300.
For CP-U, junior Sydney Maue has a high of 289 kills and junior Addy Tupa comes in with 190.
Junior Logan Keller enters with 463 assists to lead the Stormin Pointers.
Gracie Hoskins has a high of 450 digs. Paige Foltz lead with 40 aces on the season.
The Golden Hawks and Stormin Pointers are set to square off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Center Point-Urbana High School in Center Point.
