Girls teams to be recognized at break between doubleheader softball games versus Durant
KALONA — The Mid-Prairie High School trophy case is filling up and the school wants to acknowledge that fact.
The Mid-Prairie softball team has a home doubleheader against Durant Tuesday in Kalona. That will be the platform to recognize the two state championship items in the trophy case.
“We will plan to honor our girls cross-country and girls track and field teams for winning a state title this school year,” Mid-Prairie athletic director Tyler Hotz said.
The plan is to honor them before the second game, around 7 p.m.
“We will see how the first game goes,” Hotz said. “I anticipate it happening either right after it ends while the field is being remarked and the teams are taking a break or after both teams go through warm-ups.”
The cross-country team won its fourth consecutive Class 2A title in October. The track team won its third straight with an empty year between the second and third titles due to the coronavirus pandemic canceling the 2020 season of track competition.
