WELLMAN - There was exciting competition happening at Mid-Prairie Thursday. The Golden Hawks made for an exhilarating night when the volleyball team went into extra points to win and clinch a fifth-place finish in the River Valley Conference Tournament.
The Golden Hawks swept North Cedar 2-0 and edged Tipton in the third set 2-1.
Mid-Prairie entered the postseason Monday at Williamsburg with a 9-15 record.
Against North Cedar (4-18), Mid-Praire won 25-21, 25-21 with the help of Phelan Hostetler's three aces, Landry Pacha's 13 assists, Tori Boyse's six kille, and Amber Swart's nine digs.
The 25-21, 20-25, 16-14 win over Tipton (3-21) was fueled by 10 kills from Ella Groenewold, Pacha's 24 assists, and a combined 35 digs from Karson Jehle and Paige Peiffer.
