Mid-Prairie wins Top-10 matchup, WACO pulls out 5-set win

No. 10 (2A) Mid-Prairie 3, No. 12 (2A) Wilton 1
The Golden Hawks went on the road and picked up a huge River Valley win over a ranked Wilton team, beating the Beavers in four sets (25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 25-14).
It was another banner night for sophomore Jovi Evans, who finished the match with 20 kills, 27 assists and 22 digs.
Harper Pacha had 16 kills. Callie Huber finished with 10 kills, and Dakota Mitchell paced the defense with 32 digs.
English Valleys 3, Keota 1
The Eagles battled with the Bears for four sets, but English Valleys nipped Keota in four sets, winning 26-24, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19.
Keota’s Izzi Chalupa had six kills to lead the team. Emily Sheetz and Kennedy Jackson each finished with five kills.
Cassandra Swantz dished out a team-leading 10 assists in the loss. Kimberly Clarahan had 17 digs. Swantz and Chalupa each finished with 16 digs.
Mediapolis 3, New London 1
The Tigers fell again in Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division play. Mediapolis controlled the last two sets to win in four (25-19, 15-25, 25-19, 25-18).
The Tigers are now 0-10. New London has won at least one set in seven of those losses.
Notre Dame 3, Van Buren County 1
Van Buren County couldn’t take down Notre Dame in a SEISC home game. The Warriors fell in four sets, dropping it 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-20.
Ivy Davidson went off for 19 kills, 10 digs and three blocks to lead the Warriors at the net. Bree Kirkhart had nine kills, and Tessa Sayre finished with eight kills and a team-leading 11 digs.
Sophia Jirak tallied 35 assists in the loss.
Columbus 3, Hillcrest Academy 1
Columbus and Hillcrest Academy traded 25-17 games to go 1-1 after two, but the Wildcats pulled out a 25-20 win in the third and a 25-21 win in the fourth to run away with a four-set victory.
WACO 3, Pekin 2
The Panthers nearly upset the Warriors in Packwood, but WACO had just enough to pull out a five set win (20-25, 25-18, 25-15, 19-25, 15-8).
A 10-kill night from Ally Rinner aided the Warriors to the win. Emma Wagler added nine kills, and had five of the team’s 17 service aces. Meredith Roth dished out 24 assists. Brenna Graber and Halle Shelman finished with 24 and 21 digs apiece.
Pekin’s Myah Bainbridge led the way with 11 kills and 17 assists. Ava Gillum had eight kills. Alex Parsons finished with 15 digs.
