Mid-Prairie wrestling 2-0 at North Linn

TROY MILLS — The Mid-Prairie wrestling team was at North Linn High School on Tuesday, and the Golden Hawks walked out with two nail-biting wins.

The Golden Hawks won by tiebreaker against Center-Point Urbana after the final score came up 42-42. They knocked off hosting North Linn 42-36.

Mid-Prairie’s win over CPU was aided by a couple of early pins by Quinn Callahan and Burke Berry at 220 pounds and 285 pounds respectively. Colin O’Rourke and Tucker Miller picked up back-to-back pins at 126 pounds and 132 pounds.

Mid-Prairie won the first points tiebreaker criteria 10-6.

Against North Linn, the Hawks were able to jump out to a big lead thanks to a handful of forfeits and two pins in the first six matchups. Callahan and Mason Howe (126) each had early pinfalls.

Kaden Meader wrapped the win up with a win at 170 pounds when he pinned North Linn’s Austin McMahon in 5 minutes, 53 seconds.
