Mid-Prairie wrestling team takes second at Mediapolis Invitational
The Mid-Prairie wrestling team finished the Mediapolis Invitational in second place out of five teams Saturday, Dec. 10, with a team total of 61 points. They were beat by Fort Madison by just six points.
Taking to the mats was Timothy Grepl (126) who placed fourth and scored four team points. He lost the first round by fall to Wayne Briggs from West Burlington/Notre Dame/Danville (WBNDD) in 1:53.

The Mid-Prairie wrestling team finished the Mediapolis Invitational in second place out of five teams Saturday, Dec. 10, with a team total of 61 points. They were beat by Fort Madison by just six points.
Taking to the mats was Timothy Grepl (126) who placed fourth and scored four team points. He lost the first round by fall to Wayne Briggs from West Burlington/Notre Dame/Danville (WBNDD) in 1:53.
He lost the second round by tall to Zach Osborne from Mediapolis in 0:39 and lost the third round to Skylar Schau from Fort Madison by fall in 5:40.
Duncan McCain placed first and scored 19 team points in the 132 weight class. He won by fall over Stetson Spees from Fairfield in 2:35 in the first round.
He won by a 21-6 technical fall in 4:00 over Reese Thornburg from Mediapolis in the second round and won the third round by a 25-10 technical fall over Dalton Woolever from Fort Madison.
Miles Burrows (138) came in fifth place. He lost by fall to Caleb LaLonde from WBNDD in 0:48 in the first round. He lost the third round by a 3-1 decision to Derek Beasley of Fairfield.
He was pinned by Harlan Steffensmeier from Fort Madison in 0:50 in the fourth round and lost by an 8-0 major decision to Caden Benz from Mediapolis in the fifth round.
Brent Foster (152) placed second and scored four team points. He won the first round by fall over Bailey Jones from Fairfield in 1:54 but lost the third round by fall in 3:41 to Tucker Moore from WBNDD.
Ethan Danner came in first place and scored four team points. He only competed in the first place match where we won by fall in 1:52 over Tyler Hill from WBNDD.
Jacob Leonard (182) only participated in the first-place match where he lost by fall in 1:12 to Diego Lozano from Fort Madison.
Visouth Peterschmidt (195) placed second and scored 14 team points. He won by fall over Riley Silva from Mediapolis in 1:15 in the first round.
He won the second round by pinning Sam Hayes from Fort Madison in 1:43. He lost the third round by a 3-1 decision to Michael Fritz from Fairfield.
Jason Tew (220) placed second and scored 13 team points. He pinned Logan Robben from Mediapolis in 1:09 in the first round.
He lost the second round to Trenton Hanen from Fairfield by pin in 4:00. He won the third round by a 14-2 major decision over Alex Lauber from Fort Madison.
Tristan Novy placed fourth and scored three team points. He lost the first round by fall in 4:52 to Drake Fox from WBNDD.
He lost the second round by fall in 1:41 to Heath Hoenig from Fort Madison. He won the fourth round by forfeit over Brennan Breuer from Mediapolis but lost the fifth round by fall to Brendon Lunsford from Fairfield in 1:02.
Mid-Prairie?s will take to the mats at Monticello tonight beginning at 6 p.m.
This will be their last meet before the holiday break.
