Mid-Prairie’s Jones earns soccer All-State Honorable Mention

When Mid-Prairie’s Amara Jones wasn’t on the track this spring, she was on the soccer field.

The Golden Hawk senior competed in both sports and was just as good in each.

While helping Mid-Prairie to a runner-up finish at the Iowa High School State Track Championships, she also was the leading goal scorer for Golden Hawk soccer.

Her play earned her an honorable mention on this years Class 1A all-state list compiled by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Jones, in just nine games played through the season notched a team-high 11 goals and three assists while helping the Golden Hawks to a 11-7 record and a trip to the second round of the Class 1A Region 3 bracket.

She was the Hawks main striker, sending 65 shots toward the net with 44 on goal.

Jones posted a team high 25 points between her goals and assists.
