Mid-Prairie’s Rath no-hits Wilton

WILTON - The Wilton Beavers were able to score one run on Mid-Prairie ace Aidan Rath in Game 1 of a doubleheader, but they had to do so without getting a hit.
Rath no-hit the Beavers in a River Valley South showdown to lead the Golden Hawks to a 10-1 victory. Mid-Prairie completed the sweep in Game 2, winning 14-3 in five.
Rath struck out 13 batters in Game 1, giving up one earned run on two walks and a hit batter. At the plate, Rath went 3-for-5 with a homerun, a double and an RBI. Keegan Gingerich went 3-for-5 with a double and a homer and Alex Bean went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Vinny Bowlin went off in Game 2, going 3-for-4 with a homerun, two doubles and six RBIs. Karson Grout was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and also threw a complete game to win on the mound.
New London walks off Danville
NEW LONDON - Tucker Gibbar’s walk-off single ended a wild game that saw the Tigers get pushed to the brink by rival Danville. The Tigers outscored the Bears 5-2 in the final three frames to steal a victory.
Josh Catala went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead New London. Gibbar finished 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI, and Camden Kasel finished with two hits.
Van Buren escapes Cardinal
KEOSAUQUA - After blowing a two-run lead in the top of the seventh, Van Buren County scored two to win it in the seventh, scoring on a failed double play by the Cardinal defense to sneak out with a 5-4 victory.
Casey Yochum went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for the Warriors. Ryan Wolf was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Treyton Bainbridge went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Taylor Sprouse threw all seven innings in the win.
Cardinal’s Dawson Lewis went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs. Drake Durflinger was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Tristan Cloke was 2-for-3. Landon Becker took a hard-fought loss on the mound, throwing 6 2/3 innings.
Stull throws no-no, Pekin flies
PACKWOOD - It was only 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third in Game 1, but Pekin eventually pulled through for two blowouts of Columbus, winning 13-0 and 25-0, both in four innings.
Brady Latcham knocked in three runs in Game 1 to lead Pekin. Chase Stansberry, Blake Juhl and Cael Baker all knocked in two, and Jaedon Wolver pitched a two-hit shutout.
Chandler Stull no-hit Columbus in Game 2, striking out eight wildcats. Brady Millikin went 4-for-4 with a double and five RBIs and Latcham went 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Highland nipped at home
RIVERSIDE - Highland mustered just two hits in a 2-1 loss to Mediapolis. Logan Bonebrake went 1-for-1 and Brenton Bonebrake was 1-for-2.
The loss bumped the Huskies to a tie for first in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division. The Huskies are now 9-2, as is Mediapolis.
WMU falls at Wapello
WAPELLO - Winfield-Mount Union was within two runs heading into the bottom of the fifth, but Wapello scored the last eight in a 14-4 win.
Jacob Ford went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Wolves. Andrew Brown was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Luke Pfeiffer knocked in one.
Hillcrest blows lead
LETTS - Hillcrest Academy led 3-0 against Louisa-Muscatine after the third inning but the Falcons rallied back for a 7-3 win.
Jace Rempel went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Ravens.. Josiah Beachy knocked in two runs.
Keota falls on road
SULLY - Early offense from Lynnville-Sully was too much for Keota, as the Eagles lost a road game 6-1.
The Eagles had just four hits. Aidan Anderson went 1-for-1. Brady Duwa, Colten Clarahan and Patrick Clarahan all went 1-for-3.
Demons drop 2
FORT MADISON - Washington fell twice in a Southeast Conference doubleheader at Fort Madison. The Bloodhounds won Game 1, 8-4 and Game 2, 10-3.
The Demons threatened to come up with a split, leading 3-2 after three innings in Game 2. Fort Madison closed the game out with eight-straight runs.
