AMES - The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade boys sent a group of athletes to the state meet in Ames on Saturday. The Panthers scored 24 points in the meet to take ninth in the boys' large class.
The best performance went to Bryce Wilson, who shined in the hurdles. Wilson took first in the 200-meter hurdles, and finished third in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing in 14.74 seconds.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Jacob Richtman, Bowen Davis, Will Davidson and Wilson took fourth overall.
Carter Amos took fourth place in the shot put and sixth in the discus. Davidson placed sixth in the 200-meter hurdles and seventh in the discus.
Davidson was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles. The distance medley team of Zerek Venghaus, Davis, Jacob Richtman and Reean Seberg placed eighth, and the sprint medley team of Venghaus, Davis, Gabe Feldman and Richtman took ninth.
The junior high boys will have their final meet of the year tonight (Monday) at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex. That will be the Southeast Conference meet.
