FT. MADISON - Four new records were established, two in seventh grade and two in eighth grade, when the Washington's middle school girls competed in the final meet of the season Tuesday.
The Demons were second with 138 points in the eighth grade conference meet. Fairfield won with 166.
The seventh grade finished third with 86.5 and Mt. Pleasant won with 137.
Molly Klinzman set a new standard in the eighth-grade 100-meter hurdles, winning the event with a time of 17.03 seconds.
'Molly worked hard off season to prepare for track season,” coach Janet Conrad said. 'She stayed after practice to work on hurdles. She was determined to beat the record and did in the final meet.”
Makenna Conrad's winning time in the 400 of 1 minute, 1.08 seconds is now the eighth-grade record.
'Makenna gave every event 100 percent and wanted nothing less than first place on her final 400 in 8th grade, and did that as well as broke the record,” Conrad said.
The new seventh-grade record for the 100 hurdles is Remy Messinger's third-place time of 18.02.
'Remy's first year in track was a new experience and she was dedicated to her events and was excited to beat the record with hard work,” Conrad said.
Abby Kleese, Audrey Anderson, Kourtney Moeller and Taylor Bartholomew won the sprint medley in 2:08.03 to establish the new mark. They also won the 4x100 relay with a time of 57.38.
'Abby, Taylor, Kourtney and Audrey were an awesome team in more than one relay together and they worked well together, practiced hard, and gave it everything they had to beat the record they had their eye on this season,” Conrad said.
Other seventh-grade conference champions were Rylee Libe in the discus with a throw of 63 feet, 4 inches, Anderson in the long jump with a leap of 13-11.5,
Other eighth-grade conference champions were Alex Murphy in the shot with a put of 28-2, Grace Voss in the high jump at 4-9, Conrad in the long jump at 14-6 and the 100 in 13.13.
