The Denny White Relays are one day away, and there will be a familiar face calling the races once again this year. Mike Jay, a decorated voice in track and field, will be at the helm once again on Thursday.
Jay, who has been named 'National Track and Field Announcer of the Year,” lends his voice to the state track meets, the Drake Relays and the NCAA track and field championships maong others. Over the years, he has become a staple of the Denny White Relays.
'We are thrilled to again have Mike coming for the meet,” White says. 'He is a real fan of high school track and field. His knowledge of track and field allows the fans to know which athletes are competing in various events. Mike knows who the top runners are, and informs the crowd of their accomplishments. He does a great job educating the fans and adding excitement to all the races.”
All four Henry County boys' track teams (Mt. Pleasant, New London, WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union) will be on hand at the relays, which begin at 4:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 11. They will be joined by a handful of teams around the area.
