Millikin, Pope help Panthers pounce on Huskies

PACKWOOD - While Highland still is finding its basketball shoes, Pekin is on a roll led by Brady Millikin and Kerrigan Pope. The Panther boys scored a 65-30 win over the Huskies Tuesday and the girls notched a 54-33 triumph.
Pope nearly outscored the visitors with 28 points while Erika Coleman notched 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Dani Laughlin had 19 points in the loss.
Pekin started hot with a first quarter lead at 16-7, then it was 27-17 after two and 48-24 after three.
Brady Millikin was responsible for at least 38 points as he scored 18 and doled out 10 assists with four steals. Some of those assists may have gone to Chandler Stull, who made 3-of-5 3-pointers on his way to 11 points. Brock Long scored 10 while Brayden Sobaski and Cael Lyle combined for 13 points and each had three steals. Sobaski added seven rebounds and four blocks. Lyle had 10 rebounds.
