Mitchell paces Tiger men?s golf team again at Ashford Invite

EAST MOLINE, ILL. ? Blake Mitchell again led the IWC men?s golf team as it competed at the Ashford University Invitational at the Short Hills Country Club that wrapped up Tuesday.

Mitchell finished tied for 17th individually in the two-day tourney which included 36 holes played on Monday and a final round of 18 on Tuesday. Mitchell finished with a three-round score of 237, with rounds of 77 and 78 on Monday and a final round score of 82 on the par-72, 6,710-yard course. He helped lead the Tigers to a ninth-place finish in the 11-team field with a total team score of 1,020.

Mitchell was followed individually for IWC byTrent Hoekstra, who placed 50th with a score of 262 (88, 89 and 85); then Kyle Emerson, 51st place, 265 (95-84-86); Clint Phelps, 53rd place, 267 (89-92-86); and Zach Hale, 55th place, 269 (92, 84, 93).

The Tigers will conclude their fall season with the Iowa Intercollegiate Meet at Amana Colonies Golf Course in Amana, which begins Monday at 10 a.m. and continues with the final round on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
