More than 70 runners and walkers showed up to ?Do the Hustle? at the Crooked Creek Days? 5K and one mile Fun Run sponsored by the Winfield Rec League.
The Rec League?s goal is to enhance the lives of the youth in the community through athletics. Involving the youth in working at fundraisers such as the Fun Run also promotes volunteerism, community support and good citizenship. The youth helped man race turns, water stations and post race results, along with parents, local Fire Department volunteers, and Rec League committee members.
Medals were awarded to the overall male and female one mile finishers, overall male and female 5K finishers and the top three finishers in each age bracket.
Stavros Shouse won the men?s division of the one mile with a time of 6:50.71, and Samantha Jamison was the winner on the women?s side with a time of 7:57.24. The overall 5K winner for the men was Ben Polley (18:56.16) and for the women, it was Sydney Reid (22:24.36).
