Morris places at state

Three Washington boys travelled to Ames to compete in the state meet and Elijah Morris left with two top-three finishes Saturday.
Morris placed second in the eighth-grade 400 meters with a time of 55.73 seconds and was third in the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches.
The middle school boys conference meet was Monday in Mt. Pleasant.
The seventh grade placed seventh overall as a team with 63 points.
The best finishes were Teague Mayer's second-place throw of the discus at 90-9, the distance medley's second-place time of 4:38 with Brayan Arreola, Alec Ulin, Lukus Rickey and Angel Mata, and the distance medley's second place with Andrew Starr, Mata, Rickey and Brennen Westphal in 2:06.
