MOUNT PLEASANT ? In a regular season finale, the Fairfield girls? tennis team ended with a 7-2 loss at the hands of Mount Pleasant, but there were still a few bright spots as the Trojans head into tournament play.
One of the highlights came at No. 1 singles where Olivia Bachar fell behind 0-7, but rallied back to fend off three match points and win eight of the next nine games and then the tiebreaker to escape with a 9-8 (7-4) victory. Megan Proctor also picked up a win for Fairfield with a convincing 8-1 triumph at No. 2 singles.
The Panthers swept through the rest of the Trojan lineup as Huyen Pham, Alyssa Dyall, Kirsten Snyder and Leeah Fuller all picked up wins. Mount Pleasant also took the wins in all three doubles matches.
The two teams met again this morning along with the rest of the Southeast Conference in Keokuk. Results will be in Tuesday?s Ledger.
