Mount Pleasant hits past Fairfield in tennis

The Fairfield girls? tennis team swept through doubles match, but ended up one win short of beating Mount Pleasant Tuesday afternoon.

The Panthers edged out five of the six singles matches to take the meet 5-4.

Ena Alcan teamed up with Jennifer Clements to win No. 1 doubles, Dana Diers played with Megan Palmer at No. 2 and Alex Higdon combined with Dallas Grijalva at No. 3. Alcan tallied the only singles win for Fairfield after taking a default win while leading 5-2.

Next up for the Trojans is Thursday?s trip to West Burlington.

MOUNT PLEASANT ? Tuesday was Fairfield?s turn to be shorthanded, and without its No. 1 and No. 3 singles players, the Trojans were blanked 9-0 by Mount Pleasant.

Tommy Price played No. 1 singles and stole three sets from the Panthers? Caleb Zimmerman in the match. Isaac Schloss played his first varsity match at No. 5 singles and Fairfield was forced to default at No. 6.

Fairfield hopes to be back at full strength as it returns home for Thursday?s match against West Burlington.
