MP boys dominate in Mediapolis

MEDIAPOLIS - The Mt. Pleasant boys' track team looked strong on Tuesday night at the Dave Aamodt Relays in Mediapolis. The Panthers won 10 events on the night to top the field.

The Panthers were led by two wins from Chase Lamm. Lamm took the 100-meter hurdles in 15.11 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 57.93 seconds.

Mt. Pleasant swept the field events. Sam Beatty won the high jump with a leap of 6-05. Khang Truong took the long jump with a 21-04. Cooper Pullis won the shot put with a throw of 48-09.75, and Zach Beason won the discus throw with a 172-03.

Four Panther relay teams took home the gold. The 4X100 team of Truong, Beason, Chase Williamson and Rylan Seberg won in 44.68. The 4X400 team of Konnor Peterson, Sam Beatty, Mason Mills and Shull won in 3:45.06. The 4X800 team of Dalton Moyle, Cody Mertens, Brody Bender and Jacob Stukerjurgen won in 8:31.62, and the shuttle hurdle team of Beason, Shull, Peterson and Lamm won in 44.68 seconds.

Stukerjurgen took the 1600-meter run, winning in 4:52.82. Mertens finished second in that event, crossing in 4:53.16, and Bender was third, in 4:55.12.

Truong took second in the 100-meter dash, crossing the tape in 11.58 seconds. Riley McQuiggin was second in the shot put, throwing a 48-06, and the distance medley team of Dalton Church, Colton Hutson, Nathan McWilliams and Dylon Hagans took second in 4:17.55.

The Winfield-Mt. Union boys had one win and four second-place finishes. Brandon Snowden had another nice day in the sprints, taking the 100-meter dash in 11.23 seconds and finishing second in the 200-meter dash, in 22.77 seconds.

Noah Sparrow was second in the 2300-meter run, crossing in 11:35.13. The sprint medley team took second in 1:41.85, and Talon Newton took silver in the high jump with a leap of 5-10.

The W-MU girls won three events. Kyndal Townsley took the 100-meter hurdles in 17.95 seconds. The 4X100 team finished first, in 1:19.36, and Jobey Malone won the discus throw with a hurl of 110-06.75.

Whitney Vantiger took second in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing the race in 1:23.94. Anna Hudson took second in the shot put with a throw of 36-00.
