PELLA — It wasn’t a win, but the Mt. Pleasant boys basketball team proved it could hang with the best on Tuesday night in Pella.
The Panthers fought for four quarters against the fourth-ranked Dutch, falling 73-55 in the last regular season game of the year.
After trailing 21-12 after one quarter, Mt. Pleasant outscored Pella in the second to go into the locker rooms down just 31-27.
Pella’s best quarter was the third. The Dutch outscored the Panthers 24-14, to give Pella a double-digit lead going into the fourth, where the Dutch would hold the lead all quarter long.
The Panthers, now 10-11, will play at Davenport Assumption (9-11) in the Class 3A Substate 4 opener on Feb. 23.
