MP boys take third in Oskaloosa

OSKALOOSA - The Mt. Pleasant boys' golf team had a strong showing on Tuesday at the Oskaloosa invitationl. The Panthers took third place out of 15 teams, shooting a 311, finishing behind Nevada (298) and Pella (304).
Among the teams that Mt. Pleasant defeated were Norwalk (320), Oskaloosa (327) and three other Southeast Conference teams; Washington (333), Ft. Madison (362) and Fairfield (374).
Trace White had a fantastic day, finishing runner-up with a 73, shooting a 38 on the front nine and a 35 on the second nine. He lost to only Will Simpson of Pella, who edged White and two others out by one stroke, with a 73.
Jake Moffett took 16th on the day with a 78, shooting a 40 on the front nine and a 38 on the back. Bailey Shelledy was right behind him, shooting a 40 and a 39 for a total of 79.
Brevin Wilson was the fourth Mt. Pleasant scorer, shooting a 41 and a 40 to finish out at 81. Reece Kempker finished at 108, shooting a 56 and a 52.
The Panther boys will be back on the road today (Thursday) in Moravia, where they will play at The Preserve Golf Course. They will also be at the Fairfield tournament on Friday, April 26.
