MP boys win in West Burlington

WEST BURLINGTON - The Mt. Pleasant boys' track and field team stayed red-hot on Monday night, winning the Falcon Relays in West Burlington with flying colors. Mt. Pleasant won class A by over 90 points, scoring 198 on the day, which beat out Washington's 106.
The Panthers won 11 events on the day. Mt. Pleasant took seven events on the track and swept the field events.
Rylan Seberg was a double-winner on the day. He took the 400-meter dash in 52.87 seconds, and won the long jump with a 20-07.50.
Brody Bender had a record-breaking night in the 800-meter run. Bender crossed the tape in 2:07.86, breaking the previous Falcon Relay record of 2:07.92.
Chase Lamm took the 110-meter high hurdles with a final time of 15.58 seconds. Sam Beatty took the high jump with a leap of 6-02, and Zach Beason won the discus throw with a 138-11.
Mt. Pleasant dominated the shot put, taking the top four spots, even though only two are counted in the standings. Henry Lutovsky won the event with a 48-00, beating out Cooper Pullis (45-08), Riley McQuiggin (45-03), and Nick Holtkamp (45-02).
Four relay teams took first for Mt. Pleasant. The 4X400 team of Beatty, Avante Henley, Konnor Peterson and Jacob Stukerjurgen won in 3:40.73. The 4X800 team of Dylon Hagans, Drake Snavely, Luke Ryon and McCormick won in 9:44. The distance medley team of Kyle Samples, Henley, Mason Mills and Stukerjurgen won in 3:54.71, and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Beason, Tate Shull, Peterson and Lamm won in 1:04.03.
Cody Mertens picked up a second-place finish in the 3200. He crossed the line at 10:25.83. Dalton Church was second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.58.
The 4X100 team of Khang Truong, Lamm, Samples and Seberg was second, in 44.90 seconds. The 4X200 team of Jack Johnson, Hoang Mai, Chase Williamson and Church took second in 1:41.05.
In Class B, W-MU had five winners. Three of those came in individual sprint and hurdle events. Brandon Snowden won the 100-meter dash in 11.34 seconds. Dane Sweezer took the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.92 seconds, and Juanito Piper won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.54.
Noah Sparrow took the 1600-meter run with a final type of 5:23.62. The Wolves' Sprint Medley team of Christian Gerot, Dawson Bergthold, Snowden and Piper won in 1:43.47.
Two New London relay teams picked up wins. The 4X200 team of Demontae Watkins, Keontae Luckett, Nick Francis and Jordan Johnson took first in 1:38.67, and the 4X800 team of Mason Porter, Seth Bailey, Kooper Schulte and Currey Jacobs took first, in 9:12.87.
Darius Whaley took the high jump competition, leaping 5-08. Talon Newton of W-MU also finished with a jump of 5-08.
W-MU had three second-place finishes. Snowden took second in the 200-meter dash, in 23.41 seconds. Barton was second in the 800-meter run, in 2:16.59. The 4X100 team of Gerot, Piper, Bergthold and Snowden took the silver in 47.40 seconds.
New London had two relay teams place second. The 4X400 team of Porter, Johnson, Luckett and Jacobs finished second in 3:50.41, and the distance medley team of Watkins, Luckett, Johnson and Jacobs was second in 4:06.15.
