Led by Carolyn Lutovsky?s 23 points, the Mt. Pleasant freshman girls? basketball team picked up a win over Burlington on Tuesday night, 45-24.
?(Lutovsky) was posting up real well, and her teammates were able to get the ball to her,? Coach Ted Mountz said.
Lutovsky also had a team-high 12 rebounds for the Panthers, finishing with a double-double.
As a team, the Panthers took a lead in the first quarter and never gave it up.
?We didn?t allow (Burlington) to have many second-shot opportunities, but we did a good job creating our own,? Mountz said.
Megan Shumaker helped with that, grabbing eight boards in the game.
The team finished with 36 rebounds all together, including five each from Jade Kennedy and Hattie Liechty. Ally Davis pulled down four boards and Haley Booton grabbed two.
Booton finished with six points. Shumaker scored four points for the Panthers, as did Davis. Morgan Fraise and Liechty each chipped in two.
The team also had nine steals. Shumaker and Booton had four thefts each and Kennedy also had one.
They are now 5-5 on the season.
The Panthers will travel to Washington on Friday, playing the Demons at 6:15 p.m. The varsity game will follow.
