MP girls defeat Fairfield, boys' team falls to Keokuk
The Mt. Pleasant girls? tennis team defeated Fairfield, 5-4, and the boys? team dropped a meet against a tough Keokuk team, 8-1.
In the girls? meet at Fairfield, the Panthers (5-1 on the season) got singles wins from Taylor Beatty, 8-5; from Tasha Glover, 8-5; and from Emily Hatfield, 8-6.

The Mt. Pleasant girls? tennis team defeated Fairfield, 5-4, and the boys? team dropped a meet against a tough Keokuk team, 8-1.
In the girls? meet at Fairfield, the Panthers (5-1 on the season) got singles wins from Taylor Beatty, 8-5; from Tasha Glover, 8-5; and from Emily Hatfield, 8-6.
The doubles team of Shelby Barton and Becca Lehman won by a score of 8-6, while Emily Hatfield and Raeanna Crile also picked up another win, 8-4. Hatfield and Crile are now 4-0 on the season as a doubles team.
The boys? team took on a different SEC opponent on Monday night, falling to Keokuk by a score of 8-1.
Mt. Pleasant?s only win came from Zach Schmitz, who took his singles match by a score of 9-7.
?That was a big win for Schmitz,? said Coach Tyler Rodgers. ?He told me about a week ago that he was going to win, and he did. He has made tremendous improvements this year and I?m happy for the results he is getting.?
The Mt. Pleasant boys are now 4-5 on the season.
They play again today (Tuesday) at Fairfield, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Next up for the girls is a road meet against Keokuk today at 4:30 p.m.
