BENTON - A slow first half plauged the Mt. Pleasant girls on Monday night in a nonconference road game. The Panthers fell to Benton Community 47-30.
The Panthers couldn't find the bucket in the first half. Emma Huckabone had Mt. Pleasant's only basket and put up five points in the first half, but the Panthers trailed 14-2 after the first quarter and 26-8 at halftime.
Mt. Pleasant played much better in the final two quarters. The Panthers outscored the Bobcats 10-7 in the third quarter and put up 21 second half points to Benton's 21, but they could never cut the lead back down to single digits.
Huckabone and Avery Sutter scored five points apiece to co-lead the team. Sutter also finished the night with three steals.
Elli Liechty finished the night with four points and six rebounds. Karsyn Lamm and Andrea Lopreato scored four points apiece.
Kenna Lamm had three points and three steals. Lydia Stewart scored three points of her own. Isabel Ashton scored two points, and Tristian Shull finished with three assists.
Mt. Pleasant is now 1-5 on the year. The Panthers will attempt to improve on a 1-1 conference record on Friday, Dec. 20, against Washington.
