MP girls fall in Ottumwa

OTTUMWA - The Mt. Pleasant girls' basketball team had quite the task on Monday night, taking on Ottumwa on the road. The Bulldogs, who haven't lost to a Southeast Conference team all season, defeated the Panthers 64-23.
Ottumwa led the game 16-9 after the first quarter, 28-13 at halftime and 48-21 at the third quarter break. The Bulldogs poured it on with a 16-2 fourth quarter.
Maddie Williamson led the Panthers with seven points and three steals. Elli Liechty scored five points. Sadie Carrasco had four points and six rebounds. Emma Huckabone scored four of her own, and Sydni Coleman finished with three.
The Mt. Pleasant girls fell to 5-13 on the year. They'll have a big Southeast Conference game on Friday, Feb. 8 at Washington, and then return home to play Indianola on Saturday, Feb. 9.
