MP girls win Panther Relays
Mt. Pleasant grabs 6 win in home meet

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant girls’ track and field team took home its second team championship in five days on Monday. The Panthers won six events en route to a Panther Relays championship, their second on their home track in less than a week.
Mt. Pleasant scored 152 points on the girls’ side to win the meet by 58.
Mt. Pleasant had three relay wins on the track. The shuttle hurdle team of Josie Gilmore, Meadow Carter, Jayden Yoder and Rellana Van Deueren won in 1 minute, 13.39 seconds. The 4X200 team of Kiyah Sanders, Kynlee White, Alex Scott and Andi Scott won in 1:45.52, and the 4X100 squad of White, Alex Scott, Bailey Jalas and Andi Scott took first in 49.71 seconds.
White was the lone solo winner on the track for Mt. Pleasant. She took first place in the 100-meter dash, in 12.96 seconds.
In the field, Josie Gilmore took first place in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 8 inches, and Savannah Slobodnik won in the discus throw, throwing 114 feet, 8 inches.
The Panther boys took second. Mt. Pleasant scored 133 points on the boys’ side, falling to only Mediapolis.
Avin Truong was a triple winner for the Panthers. He won the 100-meter dash, in 11.31 seconds, the 110-meter high hurdles, in 16.08 seconds, and the long jump, with a leap of 21 feet, 11 inches.
Truong broke two meet records, jumping to the top in the 100-meter dash and the long jump.
The Panther boys rolled in the throwing events as well. Harmon Ensminger won the shot put throw, hurling it 43 feet, 8 inches, and Franklin Tousignant threw the discus 123 feet, 6 inches.
