MP Golf names club champions on Labor Day

The 2012 Men?s and Women?s Golf Championship Match Play Tournaments came to a close on Labor Day.

Gayle Rupp won her 15th Women?s Club Championship by defeating Steph Whitaker.

The 84th annual Men?s Golf Championship was won by 17-year-old Kiley Miller, who defeated the 1999 Club Champion Troy Stith.

Patrick Zielinski, a recent graduate of MPCHS and a member of the IWC golf team, defeated his former high school golf coach, Jamy Ball, in the consolation match.

Miller?s father, Destin Miller, won the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club Men?s Stroke Play Tournament earlier this year. Troy Stith?s brother, Tyler, and their father, the late Terry Stith, each won club championships in the past.

Tyler Stith is presently the men?s assistant golf coach at the University of Minnesota and was formerly the men?s assistant golf coach at the University of Iowa under head coach Mark Hankins, who is Gayle Rupp?s son.
