Three Mt. Pleasant Community High School athletes competed at the Senior All-Star Boys? 5K cross-country meet on the Des Moines Area Community College campus in Ankeny on Saturday.
Drew Perry led the Panthers with a time of 18:07 for 73rd place. Brach Prough ran a time of 18:26 to take 78th, and Tommy Thorne finished 80th with a time of 18:46.
?It was a nice honor for those boys and a good finish to their cross-country careers,? said Coach Mitch Anderson.
Another Southeast Conference runner, Isaac Steffensmeier, who ran against the Panthers all season, was also at the event.
He placed second overall and first for the Southeast team with a time of 15:25, which won the meet with 33 points.
The Northeast finished with 45 points, followed by the Southeast, 98 points, and the Northwest, 110 points.
Mt. Pleasant eighth grader Logan Murray completed in the open 5K race, placing fourth overall behind one adult and two runners from the 2A State Champion team, Monticello.
?His 5K time of 16:58 is a great springboard to his career at the varsity level next year,? Anderson said.
