KEOKUK - It was an up-and-down start to the Southeast Conference slate for the Mt. Pleasant softball team on Tuesday night. The Panthers blasted Keokuk 13-4 in Game 1, but dropped a tight on ein Game 2, losing 4-3.
Mt. Pleasant busted out the bats in the Game 1 win, scoring a season-high 13 runs. Before Tuesday night, the Panthers hand't scored more than five runs in a game.
The Panthers had a one-run lead in the sixth inning. Keokuk scored two runs on back-to-back RBI singles to upend the Panthers and stop Mt. Pleasant from finishing the night with a sweep.
The Panther girls are now 1-1 in SEC play. They'll play Fairfield at home tonight (Thursday).
