Mt. Pleasant alum Henry Krieger-Coble scored his first touchdown for the University of Iowa football team on Saturday in the Hawkeyes? game at the University of Michigan.
Krieger-Coble caught the 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback James Vandenberg, capping a 14-play, 80-yard drive that put the Hawkeyes on the scoreboard.
The redshirt freshman started for the Hawkeyes in the game and finished with three catches for 24 yards.
Krieger-Coble graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 2011. He claimed elite all-state and Class 3A first team all-state honors in his senior year, wrapping up an impressive high school football career. He was also a four-time letterwinner in both basketball and baseball for the Panthers.
Krieger-Coble?s fellow Mt. Pleasant graduate and current Hawkeye teammate, Jordan Cotton, is leading the Big 10 in average kick return yards, with a conference-high 28.2 yards per return. The junior has 536 yards on 19 kick returns, including one that he returned 92 yards for a touchdown.
The Hawkeyes have one game left on their season schedule: they host Nebraska on Friday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m.
