FAIRFIELD - Move over turkeys, the swan is the new bird in the sport of bowling. Specifically Chance Swan, who became the first Trojan bowler ever to hit the 500 mark in Fairfield's home wins over Burlington and Centerville on Tuesday.
Swan led the Trojans to a total pinfall of 2,937. Burlington finished at 2,604 and Centerville ended the day at 2,349.
Swan rolled a 233 in his first game and a 267 in his second game to hit the 500 mark. He broke the previous recordof 487, which was set by Brayden Fishel in 2018. Before Fishel, Eric Swan held the record with 486. Eric is the uncle of Chance.
Jacob Scotton and Anthony Osborn each rolled 370 to give the Trojans three of the top four bowlers. Drake Rippey rolled a 354. Drake Drish finished at 337, and Ben Johnston rolled a 327.
The Fairfield girls rolled a 2,232 to win their triangular. Burlignton finished at 2,034, and Centerville rolled a 1,643.
Karen Ehret led Fairfield with a 369, the top score from any of the three teams. She rolled a 143 in her first game and a 226 in her second game, and beat second-place Karly Cook of Burlington by 75 pins.
Sophia Mineart rolled a 287 for the second-highest Fairfield girls score. Bailey Hird finished at 276. Nellie Higdon rolled a 273. Lilly Huff finished at 271, and McKayla Taylor bowled a 226.
