The absence of Fairfield?s No. 1 player Ryan Brewington rippled through the rest of the Trojan lineup and Maharishi School took full advantage Monday evening.
The Pioneers didn?t lose more than two games in any set on their way to a 9-0 blanking of the Trojans on MSAE?s home courts.
Kyle Brewington moved up from his No. 2 slot to take on Thomas Weiss at No. 1 singles falling 6-2, 6-0. Will Gaub stole one game in the second set from Joseph Gelfand at No. 2 before losing 6-0, 6-1.
Derek Thatcher, Sam Arsanjani and Raphael Gelfand all kept opponents off the scorecard with 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Pioneers while Jay Stewart added one more victory at No. 6 singles.
MSAE?s ever-changing doubles lineup then rolled through the three doubles matches.
The 3-0 Pioneers will play again Thursday at Iowa City West. Next up for Fairfield will be a trip to Fort Madison tonight.
