MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant boys and girls cross-country has a good shot to make some noise this season.
The Panthers bring back a slew of talent on both sides of the card.
On the boy’s side, the Panthers return last year’s lone state qualifier in now senior Ben Carthey.
Carthey ran to a seventh-place finish in the qualifier and ended the season with a 61st finish at the state tournament.
Also coming back will be Mt. Pleasant sophomore Jude Dykstra. Dykstra just missed out on a trip to state after taking 20th.
The Panthers will miss the likes of Tyler Johnson, Isaac Rynders and Jonathan Hough. The trio were all part of Mt. Pleasants final squad.
For the Panther girls, graduate Belle Meador was the highest placer at the end of last season. Meador took 25th in the final meet.
This season it will be up to junior Alexis Wagner and sophomore’s Emma Welcher and Aliya Graber to take over the helm.
The trio were all apart of the Panthers final squad in 2022.
