Mt. Pleasant basketball handles Keokuk
Panther boys win big over Chiefs in conference battle

KEOKUK — Mt. Pleasant boy basketball got back in the win column on Friday night with a victory over Southeast Conference opponent Keokuk.
The Panthers played good ball on both ends of the floor, winning the bout 55-25.
After one quarter of play, it was just a four point game with the Panther holding onto a 14-10 lead.
In the second and the rest of the way out, Mt. Pleasant flipped a switch defensively
They would hold the Chiefs to single digits in each of the next three quarters, outscoring them 14-3 in the second for a 28-13 halftime lead and 18-3 in the third for a 46-16 heading into the fourth.
Both team would stalemate in the four at nine all, but the Panthers lead stayed true.
The victory pushes the Panthers back to .500, now 2-2.
Aaiden Ashton led Mt. Pleasant with 13 points and four rebounds in the win. Christian Stacy and Payton Hagans each added eight. Hagans also grabbed 10 rebounds and had five assists. Owen Vansickel and Chris Ewoldt followed with six points.
Mt. Pleasant will take on Benton on Monday in its next match.
