VAN HORNE — Mt. Pleasant boys basketball put together its most dominant performance of the season thus far on the road Monday night at Benton.
The Panthers burst out of the gate and never looked back on their way to a lopsided 83-39 victory over the Bobcats.
It’s Mt. Pleasant’s second straight victory after losing back-to-back the week prior.
Mt. Pleasant coupled some great defense with an offensive explosion to leap out to an 18-6 advantage after one.
They continued to tack it on from there on out, building up a 40-19 lead at the half after outscoring the Bobcats 22-13 in the second period.
The third quarter was much of the same, but the Panthers only got better on offense, taking the frame 26-12 for a 66-31 lead heading into the fourth.
Mt. Pleasant closed it out with another stellar period, topping the Bobcats 17-8 to put a stamp on it.
Three Panthers finished in double figures in the win. Christian Stacy cashed in a team high 25 points. Payton Hagans followed with 21 and Nate Stroud dropped in 10.
Mt. Pleasant moves to 3-3 on the season. The Panthers will look to stay perfect in the Southeast Conference and keep their win streak going against Washington on Friday.
