Mt. Pleasant boys 2nd at EBF Relays
Fairfield 4th, Cardinal 6th in Class A race

EDDYVILLE — Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield and Cardinal all took part in the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Relays on Thursday. The Panthers led the way, scoring 136 points.
Mt. Pleasant finished just 12 points behind Mediapolis for first place in the Class A standings. Fairfield was fourth, scoring 109 points, and Cardinal took sixth, scoring 101.
Will Davidson won the 100-meter dash for Mt. Pleasant in impression fashion. Davidson’s final time of 11.03 seconds moved him up to fourth all time in Mt. Pleasant Community High School history.
Davidson also won the 110-meter high hurdles, crossing the tape in 14.90 seconds.
The Panthers had two more winners in individual track events. Gabe Feldmann took first in the 800, crossing the finish line in 2:09.82. Ben Carthey won the 3200 in 10:27.25.
Mt. Pleasant’s 4X100 squad of Mason Sloat, Davidson, Payson Coleman and Avin Truong finished first, in 44.20 seconds. Isaac Jerrel won the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 1.5 inches.
Fairfield had one winner on the day. Ryan Gibberson took first in the high jump, clearing 6 feet.
Cardinal had a historic performance out of its first-place distance medley team. The quartet of Isaac Lett, Montana Rupe, Archer Metcalf and Gavin Van Veen crossed the tape in 3:44.77, which broke the school record.
The previous record, which was set way back in 1985, was 3:45.55.
Cardinal also had a winner in Alec Rachford, who took first in the discus throw. Rachford tossed the discus 140 feet, 11 inches.
