Mt. Pleasant boys can’t complete comeback
Keokuk’s late goal propels Chiefs over Panthers in SEC battle

KEOKUK — Mt. Pleasant boys soccer came up just short to Keokuk in a Southeast Conference matchup on Monday night.
After a slow first half, both teams picked up the pace in the second, but in the end it was Keokuk coming out with the goal advantage 3-2.
It took both Mt. Pleasant and Keokuk awhile to get going in the match, at least in the scoring column.
Both squads went scoreless through the opening half, but the net opening up in the second.
Keokuk came out of the half and scored two quick goals to take the reins of the game.
Mt. Pleasant kept on fighting despite the two goal deficit and eventually freshman Dylan White answered the call.
With 18 minutes to go, White scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 2-2.
But with just three minutes left on the clock, the Chiefs slipped in the game winner off the counter attack.
Time was not on the Panther’s side as they failed to find the tying goal and complete the comeback victory.
White, along with his two goals had 15 shots on goal. Moroni Sanchez finished with three shots on goal. Ramzy Davis sent two toward the net.
Rudy Ruiz Motta finished with 12 saves on the day in goal.
Mt. Pleasant moves to 1-2 on the season and will play host to Burlington on Thursday.
