IOWA CITY - The Mt. Pleasant boys basketball team kicked it into hyperdrive in the fourth quarter of Tuesday night's road game at Iowa City Regina. The Panthers scored 25 points over the last eight minutes to rally for a 69-63 win.
After leading 21-17 at the first horn, Mt. Pleasant scored just nine points in the second quarter, allowing Regina to take a 32-30 lad at halftime. Dewon Trent scored 11 in the first half to lead the Panthers, and Sam Jerrel knocked down a trifecta of 3-point baskets.
The two teams split the third quarter 14-14, but Mt. Pleasant put the pedal to the medal in the fourth quarter to run past the hometown Regals.
Jerrel finished with a team-high 18 points. Brevin Wilson scored 15 points, 13 of which came in the second half. Trent finished with 14, and Chase Williamson scored 11 points, all in the second half. Jack Johnson scord five points, and both Owen Vansickel and Dylon Hagans had three.
The Panthers are now 11-7 overall. They will put their 4-4 Southeast Conference record on the line tonight (Thursday) when they host Burlington (5-10, 4-3).
