The Mt. Pleasant boys soccer team showed off a bit of their youthful potential at the end of the week with a couple of games against Lee County foes.
On Thursday, the Panthers competed with No. 2 Fort Madison, falling 5-2 to the undefeated Bloodhounds at home. On Friday, the Panthers shut out Central Lee, 2-0.
On Thursday, Mt. Pleasant found themselves in an early hole, going down 3-0 to Fort Madison in the first half, but the Panthers had some energy left in them when the field flipped sides.
The Panthers scored on two separate Dylan White goals in the second half. Kolbein Ostby assisted on one of the two goals, and the next was unassisted. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the Bloodhounds connected on two of their own.
Goalkeeper Rudy Ruiz Motta had five saves on seven shots faced for the Panthers.
On Friday, White scored two more goals, this time both in the first half. Ostby had another assist, and Noah Lange added an assist of his own.
Ruiz Motta faced six shots on goal, and ended the game with six saves.
Mt. Pleasant is now 3-4 overall and 1-4 in Southeast Conference play. The Panthers will take on Washington (5-2, 3-2) on Monday at East Lake Park.
