The Mt. Pleasant boys' tennis team held on for a 5-4 win over Davis County on Thursday night after taking four singles matches to start the meet. The Panthers won the top two singles matches and the top doubles match en route to a one-point victory.
Corbin Broeker and Jaxon Hoyle both performed well in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches respectively. Broeker took down Davis County's Luke Snyder 8-5, and Hoyle beat Carson Zeitler, also by an 8-5 score.
David Nguyen picked up an 8-6 win in the No. 4 match over Ivan Garcia. Jack Schimmelpfennig won 8-5 in the No. 5 match, taking out Kade Tharp.
Donny Arledge lost the No. 3 singles match to Noah Zmolek, falling 8-1. Clayton Henriksen dropped a close match in the No. 6 spot, falling 8-5 to Clayton McFarland.
The Panthers needed just one win in the doubles competition to bring home their first victory of the season. Broeker and Hoyle got that job done with an 8-3 win over Snyder and Zeitler.
Nguyen and Schimmelpfennig dropped their doubles match 8-6 to Zmolek and Tharp. Arledge and Henriksen lost a tough one, 9-7, against Garcia and McFarland.
The team is now 1-1 on the year and will be in Fairfield on Monday, April 1.
