Mt. Pleasant ends regular season with loss at Pella
Dutch’s dominant second quarter, difference maker in win over Panthers

PELLA — Mt. Pleasant had its regular season finale spoiled on Tuesday night with a loss at Pella 95-73.
The Panthers and Dutch were dead even through one quarter of action 18-18, but the second quarter changed the trajectory of the game.
Through the second period, the Dutch dropped in a game high 33 points. Meanwhile, the Panthers were held to 16, matching their lowest point total of the night.
Pella held a 51-34 lead at halftime.
The Panthers battled through the second half, but the Dutch won the final two frames by a combined 44-39.
Despite the loss, Payton Hagans scored 35 for the Panthers. Nate Stroud followed with nine and Zach Newton seven. Avin Truong, Aiden Humble and Ian Reid all finished with five.
Mt. Pleasant ends the regular season at 13-7 and will take on Southeast Conference rival Keokuk (14-6) in the first round of the Class 3A Region 5 playoff. The two squads split during the regular season with Keokuk winning the latest meeting.
