Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield volleyball compete in Ottumwa Volleyball Invitational
Panthers picked up two wins, Trojans one in Bulldogs’ weekend tournament

OTTUMWA — Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield volleyball both competed in the Ottumwa Volleyball Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The tournament featured the likes of Albia, Davis County, No. 2 Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Ottumwa along with the Panthers and Trojans.
It was a tough day against some great competition for both squads. Mt. Pleasant walked away with a pair of wins when all was said and done, while Fairfield grabbed just one.
Mt. Pleasant’s two victories came against Davis County and Fairfield.
The Panthers were 2-1, 21-16, 10-21, 15-13 winners over the Mustangs and defeated the Trojans 2-0, 21-18, 21-13.
Meanwhile, the Panthers were bested by Albia 2-0, 21-19, 24-22; Ottumwa 2-0, 21-11, 21-18; and E-B-F 2-0, 21-13, 21-15.
As for Fairfield, the Trojans lone victory came against Davis County 2-0, 22-20 and 21-11.
Along with the loss to Mt. Pleasant, the Trojans were defeated by E-B-F 2-0, 21-9, 21-7; Albia 2-1, 14-21, 21-19, 15-17 and Ottumwa 2-0, 21-13, 21-17.
Mt. Pleasant will take on Washington Tuesday, while Fairfield will square off with Fort Madison.
