Mt. Pleasant, Fairfield, Washington softball postseasons set
Panthers, Trojans and Demons begin regional play on Thursday

It’s that time of the year once again as Southeast Conference softball will kick off its postseason journey on Thursday.
Mt. Pleasant, Washington and Fairfield will all be in action.
The Panthers (5-24) will take on SEC foe Keokuk (4-23) in the first round, Washington (23-12) will battle Central Lee (21-8) and Fairfield (13-14) gets West Burlington (21-11).
For Washington it’s a rematch of a game from June 20, in which the Demons downed the Hawks 14-4.
Since then, the Demons have won six of the last eight and are currently winners of three straight.
Freshman Leighton Salazar leads the Demons with a batting average of .548. Salazar has a team-high 68 hits, 52 singles, 13 doubles, three triples and 24 RBIs.
Sophomore Ella Greiner hits .486 with 54 hits, 40 singles, eight doubles, one triple and five home runs with a team-high 39 RBIs.
Eight grader Colbie Greiner hits .351 with 39 hits, 24 singles, nine doubles, one triple and five home runs with 36 RBIs as well.
Lauren Hinrichsen, Haley Mitchell, Emery Walton, Kendall Hinrichsen, Alyvia Anderson and Isabella Salazar all have over 20 hits and double digit RBIs as well.
In the circle, Isabella Salazar had an ERA of 3.41. Colbie Greiner sits with an ERA of 3.60 and Halle Cuddeback an ERA 4.63. The trio have struck out 126 batters and are holding opponents to a batting average of .278.
Central Lee is lead by junior Shanna Buford who has an average of .579. Buford has 55 hits, 29 singles, 18 doubles, two triples and six home runs.
Kenna Sandoval and Marie Young both bat over .400 for the Hawks as well.
Everlee Harvey is the go to pitcher for the Hawks. Harvey has a 15-2 record with an ERA of 3.03.
Fairfield comes into its matchup with West Burlington off a split with Keokuk.
The Trojans have won one out of their last five. The Falcons have lost three straight.
Fairfield got the better of West Burlington in the two’s previous matchup back in 2022, 9-5. Before that West Burlington had won three straight.
Senior Coty Engle leads the Trojans with a batting average of .389. Engle had 28 hits with 21 singles, five doubles and two triples with one RBI on the season.
Olivia Hollander, a sophomore, hits .324 with 23 hits, 15 singles, five doubles, two triples, one home run with a team-high 21 RBIs.
Fellow sophomore Laney Norris has an average of .306. Norris has tallied 26 hits, 24 singles, two doubles with 14 RBIs through the season.
Lilly Bergren, Faith Jones, Claire Thompson Savannah Hollander, Emmelia Miller, Leah Helmick and Morgan Ament all have double digit hits on the season.
In the circle, Engle has a team-best ERA of 3.27. Engle has 93 strikeouts on the season.
Helmick (5.25), Norris (5.57) and Thompson (5.92) have all pitched for the Trojans as well.
For West Burlington, Lauren Summers bats .511. Anna Engberg, Elise Oleson, Madalynn Knapp and Lauren Krieger all bat over .400.
In the circle, Summers has an ERA of 2.51 with 171 strikeouts.
Mt. Pleasant enters its first round matchup with Keokuk off a loss to Iowa City West on Saturday.
The Panthers picked up a big win, 6-5, over Davenport Central on the day as well.
This will be the fourth installment between the Panthers and Chiefs this season. Keokuk holds the season record 2-1, most recently downing Mt. Pleasant 13-3.
Keokuk enters the game off a loss to Central Lee 11-0.
Freshmen Addison Clark and Kynlee White lead the Panthers at the plate.
Clark has an average of .333 with a team-high 25 hits, 15 singles, six doubles, two triples, a team-best two home runs and 18 RBIs.
White hits .319 with 23 hits, 21 singles, one double, one triple and one RBI.
Eight grader Jolynn Martin bats .292 with 19 hits, 14 singles, five doubles and 12 RBIs.
Emma Starr, Ella McNamee, Saige Burchett, Jersey Beachy, Bethany Drury, Jayden Housh and Tyi Alter all bat above .200 as well.
In the pitchers circle, Jolynn Martin, Tyi Alter and Myah Starr have all pitched in over 15 games. The trio have a combined ERA of 7.37 with 71 strikeouts.
Keokuk is led by Brylee Balentine with an average of .388 and a team-best 33 hits.
Rachel Moore, Suzie Whitaker, Ada Wood and Gracie Thompson all bat above .300 too.
All three games will take place at 7 p.m. Washington will host, while Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant will be on the road.
