Panthers down West Burlington-Notre Dame on the road

WEST BURLINGTON — Mt. Pleasant football is winless no more.
The Panthers got the monkey off their back on Friday, going on the road to finish non-district play with a 24-20 win over West Burlington-Notre Dame.
Mt. Pleasant played a consistent four quarters, scoring at least once in each period.
West Burlington-Notre Dame held an early 6-0 lead, but Mt. Pleasant scored one touchdown in the first quarter and one in the second to take a lead it did not relinquish.
The Panthers led 14-12 at halftime and 21-12 after three quarters.
Payton Hagans had another nice game offensively, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown, while catching a pass for 14 yards.
Carson Coleman completed just four passes for 70 yards through the air, and had one interception, but he scrambled for 62 yards and a score on the ground. Dylon Hagans ran for 13 yards and a touchdown. Jurha Turner caught three passes for 56 yards.
Jacob Ricthman had seven tackles to lead the Mt. Pleasant defense. Turner picked off one pass on defense.
Mt. Pleasant had lost its previous three games, despite holding a lead in two of them. The Panthers are now 1-3 heading into a homecoming showdown with Fort Madison Friday.
