Mt. Pleasant gets 5 on All-District team
Panthers earn 3 first teamers; Walker named Punter of Year

The Class 4A District 3 All-District team was released earlier this month, and the Mt. Pleasant football team had five names on the list.
The Panthers had three first-teamers and two second-teamers. They also received one special award.

Three seniors represented the Panthers on the first team. One of those seniors was quarterback Jacob Ricthman, who slung the ball all around the field for 1,736 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. He added 27.5 tackles on the defensive end.
Other first teamers for the Panthers included running back Zerek Venghaus, who rushed for 340 yards and five touchdowns, and also finished third on the defense with 33 tackles at the linebacker position.

The final first team honoree was Carter Amos. Amos caught a team-high 44 passes for 413 yards and three scores this year. He also had 27.5 tackles on defense.

The Panthers had two second-teamers in receiver/defensive back Wyatt Woodsmall and running back/linebacker Bowen Davis, both seniors. Woodsmall led the Mt. Pleasant receivers with 545 yards and four touchdowns through the air, and Davis was the team’s leading tackler, with 52.
Mt. Pleasant’s one special award came via sophomore punter Payton Walker. Walker punted the ball 41 times this year for a grand total of 1,337 yards.
