Mt. Pleasant girls basketball team holds banquet
Panthers close out season with end-of-year awards

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant girls basketball team held its end-of-year banquet on Sunday and that gave a chance for head coach Curt Watson to give out some awards.
Leading scorer Andrea Lopreato, a junior, was named the team’s MVP for the 2021-22 season. Seniors Jadan Brumbaugh and Kenna Lamm were named offensive MVP and defensive MVP respectively.
Kate Schimmelpfennig and Bizzie Richtman were each given Coach’s Awards. Schimmelpfennig earned the Varsity Coach’s Award, and Richtman earned the honor on the Junior Varsity side.
The Most Improved Player Award went to Alexa Fuller. Elsie Lange and Tristian Shull each took home a Panther Award.
The Mt. Pleasant girls basketball team went 12-11 on the year, and 5-5 in conference play. The Panthers upset Fort Madison in the opening round of the regional tournament before falling at Keokuk in the semifinals.
