FT. MADISON — The Mt. Pleasant girls basketball team stuck with Ft. Madison for almost three periods on Friday night, but the Panthers didn’t have enough juice left in the tank to stage a fourth-quarter comeback.
The Bloodhounds stayed one game back in the loss column in the Southeast Conference race by pulling past the Panthers late to knock off visiting Mt. Pleasant 53-35.
Mt. Pleasant trailed the game 29-14 at halftime, but cut the Bloodhound advantage all the way back to nine points with an early third-quarter surge.
That was as close as the Panthers would get, however, as the Bloodhounds polished off the regular season sweep.
Mt. Pleasant was led by Abigail Shelangoski, who scored 15 points.
With the loss, Mt. Pleasant fell to 3-11 overall and 0-7 in SEC play.
