Mt. Pleasant girls' tennis grabs close win over Fairfield

The Mt. Pleasant girls' tennis team picked up a Southeast Conference win Tuesday afternoon against Fairfield, 5-4. Mt. Pleasant improved to 2-3 overall on the season.

Freshman Taylor Beatty (1-1) got her first varsity win in her second start Tuesday, as she defeated Dallas Grijalva, 8-4. Brittany Medina (1-4), Miranda Marlow (2-3), Shelby Barton (2-3) and Makayla McClellan (3-2) each picked up singles wins while Kirsten Snyder (3-2) lost by default.

Mt. Pleasant readjusted its doubles lineup after Snyder was unable to play due to illness and the Panthers were swept in straight matches by Fairfield. One of the doubles losses was a 7-5 tiebreaker between Marlow/McClellan and Dana Diers/Megan Palmer.

The Panthers travel to Fort Madison on Saturday, April 15, for the Fort Madison Invitational starting at 9 a.m.
